Joyful Parenting Seminar

...if you stood still, you'd get a flyer pasted on your forehead. We were ecstatic to hear that when our publicity person went to a public Japanese elementary school right next to CAJ, they actually asked for 700 flyers!! One went home with each child that day:) We prayed and prayed that the Lord would bring the people of HIS choosing to this seminar.

The turnout this morning was not as many as we had hoped (approx. 100) but we trust that God did answer our prayers in that He brought who HE wanted to be there. I was very happy that 8 of my friends (and some of their friends) were in attendance. I even got to open the time with an icebreaker game:) 7 free books were given away. How? 1) Whoever had the most number of 1-yen coins in their wallet 2) Whoever had a birthday today 3) Whoever had the most points on their Mister Donuts card (can you believe someone actually had over 690 points?? She had me beat!!) 4) Whoever had a "My-hashi", an eco friendly pair of chopsticks in their purse, and so on. That was very fun!! One of my good friends even won the first book!

I was very happy to hear Mr. Kaneko speak on the importance of the parents being the authority and leader of the home. And how the best gift that parents could give to their child is the LOVE that a mom and dad have for one another. And how God created man and woman very differently and wonderfully. And the value of getting to know each of our children by spending time with them one on one, and finding a common hobby to enjoy doing together. For some of the Japanese moms, these were brand new concepts that they had not considered before, especially the one pertaining to how a good marriage relationship is of utmost importance in parenting well.

It was an honor for the PTA to provide this type of ministry to the surrounding community!
