TGI Friday's

So, Japanese noodles are good. Rice is good. Sushi is good. Seaweed is good.

But sometimes, we just CRAVE for some good ole' American food.

This weekend, I woke up one morning, and I said to my family, "We're going to TGI Fridays today!" Never mind that it was only 40 degrees outside and cloudy. Never mind that we would all have to ride our bikes to the station. Never mind that we would be on the train for about 40 minutes to get to Shibuya station, and then we'd have to walk for about 15 minutes to get to the restaurant. I wanted some American yummies in my tummy, so we were going.

Was it worth it??? Oh yeah, baby! Check out this Jack Daniels Bacon and Cheese Burger...close to a 1/2 pound of real meat! And french fries! And drinks in a large American sized cup! And free refills! And ketchup on the table for the fries! And the waitress actually took our bill from our table, just like in the States (in Japan you always go to the cash register to pay on your way out). For a moment, it really did feel like we were back in California...sitting at a table with all the TGI Fridays red and white decor, and being surrounded by other English speakers (it's a foreigner hang out place). I say "for a moment", because once we were outside again, we were walking in the cold, headed back to the station where it took almost an hour on the train this time. Oh well. We made our home trip fun by eating a Krispy Kreme donut...this time we were in line for ONLY 30 minutes to get our "hot donuts now"!

I probably gained about 10 pounds yesterday, but it was a fun day of treating our own selves, which we need to do once in a while.

Today for lunch, I was back to eating rice ball and kimchi.
