Enjoy the photos of the class. Cupcake the puppet is still going strong, and never fails to make her appearance at teaching events. I taught the English words for colors using the ice cream theme, and the kids made ice cream cones using styrofoam balls and plastic flower pots. They got very creative with the flavors!
They also learned phrases like, "I'm happy/sad/mad/tired" in response to "How are you?" When I asked all the boys to ask the girls "how are you", thinking they could practice saying a few things, it turns out that the boys were too embarrassed to talk to the girls! I should have known:)
I was surprised that they all knew the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." I guess every English teacher uses that song here. I did the coin disappearing trick, and made it come out of the nose, ears, etc., so that was fun.
The snack was a miniature hamburger! I used plain cookies for the buns, one side of an Oreo cookie for the meat, red frosting for ketchup, and coconut flakes colored green for the lettuce. Place some potato stick snacks for the french fries, and you have a miniature happy meal:)
I was able to read Melody Carlson's "The Lost Lamb," the story of the Good Shepherd and the Lost Sheep, since I had not used that book for this group. It is always a thrill to teach Truth to the children... while their mommies listen in, too!!
