My Husband of 16 Years

Yes, it has been forever and a day since the last time I've blogged. I'm ashamed. There have been a million times when a blog has formed in my mind, and I've been itching to write... but I just haven't. There are many excuses that I could list here, but I won't bore you with them. I just have to do it, and that's that. I'm not going to worry so much about photos since this system is way too complicated for me to do by myself. So I will just try to write down some of my thoughts as they come to me.

On December 16th, Jeff and I celebrated our 16 years of marriage! And I have to share with you how absolutely BLESSED I feel by the Lord each and every day. I'm not just saying that... I truly do mean it. For a woman to have the honor of having a man who loves Jesus with all of his heart--that is amazing. I look around, and I see so many marriages falling apart. So much hate. So much hurt. Of course our marriage is far from perfect. We fight, argue, and struggle with sin. We are more than thankful to have had the timely Alpha Marriage Course that set our communication back on track again. But all in all, I cannot tell you how GRATEFUL I am to have a man who strives to love me unconditionally. He is a kind and thoughtful man. He has a servant's heart. He keeps me and the kids laughing every day. He's goofy and a dang genius all at the same time.

What is our secret? Well, it's no secret at all! We both know Jesus. We both know how loved we are by Him, our Creator God. We both know how much we've been forgiven by Him, our Savior. We both desire to follow Him, our Lord and Master.

On our wedding video, my dad was interviewed, and he was asked, "What is the key to a successful marriage?" He answered, "Forgiving one another." That's what we've been doing for the last 16 years.

To all you single men and women out there, don't settle for second best. Wait upon the Lord. For all of you married friends who are struggling in your relationships, it's never too late to get things right again. For all of you who have a wonderful marriage, stay the course, keep Jesus in the center, and remain humble.

I am such a blessed wife and mom.
